Michèle Boisvert and Guy Côté love fine wine. Both have become passionate advocates of the sommelier trade, donating their time and efforts to the promotion of L’ACSP and the ASI & APAS Contest of the Best Sommelier of the Americas. So much so, they have become recognized as honourary chairs of the event, in recognition of their contributions.

 

 

Michèle Boisvert

Michèle Boisvert is a music lover who has been immersed in the world of wine for more than 25 years. This Université de Montréal Pharmacy graduate — who specializes in homeopathy — has discovered the subtleties of wine through her friends, who invited her to join the Chaîne des Rôtisseurs, a gastronomic society founded in Paris in 1950.

 

Boisvert’s love for wine doesn’t stop at the liquid in the bottle, as she is also a supporter for people in the industry, whose knowledge of wine fascinates her. She admires sommeliers who demonstrate expertise far beyond the wine industry in order to distinguish themselves.

 

Boisvert studied piano before entering the pharmaceutical sciences and enjoys meeting the various people who inspire and makeup the large family of wine enthusiasts. In order to continue on this path, she became involved with the Canadian Association of Professional Sommeliers in Quebec, who affectionately refer to her as the “godmother” of the Best Sommelier of the Americas competition.

 

 

Guy Côté

For Guy Côté, wine is above all a force that brings people together.  A self-professed enthusiast for years, he is thrilled to join the large family of the Canadian Association of Professional Sommeliers as the Honorary Chairman of the Best Sommelier of the Americas competition.

 

Côté enjoys savouring fine wines with friends and discovering the subtleties particular to each grape variety and each region. In fact, it’s this ability that sommeliers have — to quickly analyze a wine, to describe its origin and the type of soil the grape variety grew from and sometimes even the vintage year — that fascinates him. If his role as Senior Vice President and Portfolio Manager of National Bank Financial makes him an expert in reading the stock market, he is learning, little by little and with great fun, to decipher the symbols exclusive to the world of wine tasting.
